October 19th 1957 - Maurice "Rocket" Richard scored his 500th goal. The Canadiens were hosting the Chicago Blackhawks (naturally) and the Rocket one timed a pass from Jean Beliveau pass BlackHawk goalie Glenn Hall.
This gave the NHL its first member of the 500 goal club, which now stands at 41 members.
Now to make this more painful for my Blackhawk buddies, Richard scored his 100th,200th,400th and 500th goal against Chicago.
5 years later on March 14 1962 The 500 goal club welcomed a new member in the Detroit Red Wings legend Gordie Howe.
