1961 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks and Redwings were the surprise teams in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1961 after finishing 3rd and 4th in the regular season. The Blackhawks upset the highly favored Canadiens 4-2 and Detroit upsetting the #2 Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1. Chicago was emphatic in knocking off Montreal in games 5 and 6 winning both by the score of 3-0.
The Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup 4 games to 2 and won game 6 in Detroit.
This was the first Cup for Chicago since 1938 and the most recent in Blackhawks history.
