- 1977 - Boston Bruin Jean Ratelle scores his 1,000th NHL point
Today is the 65th birthday of goalie Bernie Parent. He was the goalie for the Broadway Bullies in 1974 and 1975 as they stormed to the Stanley Cup title and he took home the Vezina and Conn Smythe Trophies both years. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1984.
