Art Ross Trophy 1948

June 2nd 1948

Elmer Lach of the Montreal Canadiens is awarded the first Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's regular season points leader.

1947-1948 season saw Lach lead the league with 61 points
(30 goals, 31 assists).  He was the lone bright spot for a Canadiens team that missed the playoffs by 4 points with a 20-29 record after finishing first in the 1946-47 season.
