2003 Conn Smythe Trophy winner as Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP.  
The Ducks lost in the Final to the New Jersey Devils, 4 games to 3.
The Ducks defeated the #1(Dallas Stars) and #2 (Detroit Red Wings) teams in the Western Conference and then defeated the Minnesota Wild to win their first Clarence Campbell Bowl as Western conference Champions

Martin Gelinas scored at 8:05 of the OT to send the Hurricanes (formerly Hartford Whalers) to their first Stanley Cup Finals.

The Edmonton Oilers win their 4th Stanley Cup in 5 years and unbeknownst to anyone at the time it would be the last Stanley Cup win for "The Great One" Way Gretzky.  
Gretzky would win the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP 
(his 2nd) in what became his last game as a member of the Edmonton Oilers.

1967 NHL Triple Crown Winner - Stan Mikita

Stan Mikita in 1967 led the NHL in points with 97 (17 more than teammate and 2nd leading scorer Bobby Hull), he had 35 goals (2nd to Hull's 52) and 62 assist which was the best in the league.
Mikita took home the Art Ross Trophy for scoring and the Hart Trophy as NHL regular season MVP and also added the Lady Byng Trophy (excellence in sportsmanship) for the 1966-67 season.

Bryan Murray - Washington Capitals

Bryan Murray coached the Capitals to a 2nd place finish in the Patrick Division behind the NY Islanders.  The Capitals then swept the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the playoffs 3-0.   They were then beaten by the defending Stanley Cup champion Islanders in the next round 4 games 1.
