Today in Hockey History

 Well its for the a leap year February 29th 1980, Gordie  Howe set another all time  record by becoming  the  first professional to score 800 goals.  He did this with the Hartford Whalers which he had  joined in WHA as the New England Whalers in 1979 at the age of 51.  He retired after the 1979-80 season but had helped the Whalers gain publicity and brought attention to smaller markets that love hockey.

Blue Jackets Record setting win

The Blue Jackets won their 44th game of the season for 94 points, 1 game better and 1 point better than the 2013-2014 team that finished with 43 wins and 93 points.  There are still 14 games left in this season for them to up their record.  Currently they are 3rd in the Metropolitan Division, 1 point behind Washington and Pittsburgh for the division and conference lead.
