2018 Stanley Cup Champions
Congratulations to the 2018 Stanley Cup Champion
Washington Capitals
The Caps defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-1, winning the clinching game 5 on June 7th 2018 in Las Vegas.
Lars Eller, Caps forward scored the game winning, cup winning goal at the 12:43 mark of the period to give the Caps a 4-3 win.
Alexander Ovechkin, the Capitals captain was named Conn Smythe winner as the Playoff MVP.
Las Vegas was led by Reilly Smith with 22 points and Goaltender Marc-Andre Fluery with 2.24 GAA and .927 save %.
Ovichkin had 15 goals and 12 assist for 27 points he was the 2nd leading scorer of the playoffs behind teammate Evgeny Kuznetsov (12 G, 20 A = 32 points), but his energy and leadership led the way for the Capitals first Stanley Cup win in its 44 year history.

Shaggy and Sting opened up the festivities in Washington D.C. and the Capitals and Golden Knights did the rest, with Marc-Andre Fleury and Braden Holtby making big save after big save, great snipes from Evgeny Kuznetsov and Devante Smith-Pelly, and a record-tying goal for Alex Ovechkin in this edition of Best of the Night!

2018 Eastern Conference Champions
The Washington Capitals are Eastern Conference Champions for the first time in 20 years as they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4 games to 3 to capture the Prince of Wales Trophy. The East Final went to a game 7 for the 5th straight year as the Capitals shutout the Lightning in games 6 and 7.
