2018 Eastern Conference Champions

The Washington Capitals are Eastern Conference Champions for the first time in 20 years as they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4 games to 3 to capture the Prince of Wales Trophy.   The East Final went to a game 7 for the 5th straight year as the Capitals shutout the Lightning in games 6 and 7.

The Carolina Hurricanes defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs in OT of Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Martin Gelinas scored at 8:05 of the OT to send the Hurricanes (formerly Hartford Whalers) to their first Stanley Cup Finals.

The Senators won the Eastern conference playoffs defeating the Buffalo Sabres in the Eastern conference final 4 games to 1.  They met the Anaheim Duck in the Stanley Cup Final but lost 4 to 1 in the best of 7 Final
