2024 Stanley Cup Finals


 
The 2024 Stanley Cup finals between the Eastern Conference Champion Florida Panthers and the Western Conference Champion Edmonton Oilers looked to be a trouncing by the Panthers.  The Oilers went down 3-0 and then they showed up to make a series out of it with 2 great wins and it now stands at 3-2 with the Final headed back to Edmonton for a HUGE game 6.   The Panthers l0ost in the 2023 Final to the Vegas Golden Knights are looking to win their first Stanley Cup.  The Oilers who last were in the Final in 2006 where they lost to the surprising Carolina Hurricanes, are going for their first Stanley Cup Final series win since 1990 when Mark Messier led the team to victory over the Boston Bruins.

Roberto Luongo moves into third place in All Time Wins

Roberto Luongo and the Panthers defeat the Avalanche in overtime, moving Luongo into third place on the NHL all-time wins list with 485. He passes Ed Belfour and sits behind Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur

The NHL had named the 3 Stars of the Week. 

The First Star of the Week is Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Evgeni Malkin who scored 6 goals and 2 assists for 8 points in 3 Games. 

The Second Star of the Week is Florida Panthers’ goalie Harri Sateri who went 3-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage. 

Third Star of the Week is Vegas Golden Knightsforward Riley Smith who scored 4 goals and 1 assists for 5 points in 4 games played.

Jaromir Jagr 750th Goal

Jaromir Jagr joined Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe as the only players in NHL history to have 750 or more career goals.
He netted his 750th against the Washington Capitals in a 4-2 loss.  
Jagr is far and away the active leader in goal scoring with Jarome Inginla 2nd among active players with 612.
