Alex Ovechkin 2025 Superhero

 April 6th 2025 
Washington Capital superstar/captain Alex Ovechkin set tied and then broke Wayne Gretzky's all time record for NHL goals scored with his 895th.
He scored on national tv against the New York Islanders.  The game was carried by ABC and they got what they wanted for their money, it was a tremendous moment in NHL history.

Game 3 - Islanders vs Rangers

April 11th 1975

The upstart New York Islanders in just their third season shock the hockey world and the rival New York Rangers by winning the decisive third game of the Stanley Cup preliminary series at Madison Square Garden on an overtime goal by J.P. Parise after just 11 seconds of the first extra period. This is the entire game broadcast as aired over the Islanders station WMCA 570-AM in New York. The broadcast team are play-by-play man Dom Valentino and color commentator Jim Garvey. The tape includes commercials as well as an interesting between periods interview with baseball Hall of Famer and big hockey fan Phil Rizzuto.

The NHL has named New York Islanders' forward Mathew Barzal as the Rookie of the Month for the month of January. Barzal with three goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 13 games played.

The NHL has named their 3 stars of the week for the week ending in October 29th 2017 

First Star of the Week is New York Islanders' forward John Tavares. Tavares scored 6 goals and 1 assist for a total of 7 points in 3 games. He scored a hat trick vs. the Arizona Coyotes and the Nashville Predators

Second Star of the Week is Vegas Golden Knights' goalie Oscar Dansk. Dansk went 2-0 with a 1.00 goals-againstaverage and a .968 save percentage and a shutout. 

Third Star of the Week is Ottawa Senators forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau. Pageau scored 1 goal and 5 assist for 6 points in 3 games.
